Hello – We are the Friends of John of Gaunt, better known as FoJoG. We are the parents, guardians and carers of the children at this wonderful school and by making the decision to enrol your child here, you are now new members and we warmly welcome you. It’s a great way to become involved in the school community.
We regularly hold FoJoG Friendly Friday Coffee Morning in John Bear’s Room, so do pop in and say hello. It’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
Our role in the School is to organise events for the enjoyment of the children and their families such as Summer Fayre and Advent Fayre, discos, coffee mornings, Easter Bake Off and mufti days.
Some of these raise money for the School in order to provide some ‘extras’ for the benefit of the children in their educational development.
Fundraising is one of our major roles and in past years we have been proud of our achievements. We provided our train and pirate ship which are very popular with the children. We are currently fund raising to develop an outdoor Rotary Reading Garden.
There are many ways you can get involved with the school and helping run the school library is another area of school life that we support.
Once a year we organise a Strawberry tea to support Breast Cancer Care UK.
We have also for over twenty years produced a pantomime for the enjoyment of the children and staff of this school, St Michaels and Bure Valley Schools starring – yes you have guessed it – parents. “Oh no you don’t” “oh yes we do!!” So if you failed to appear on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ you will be hugely welcomed to join our panto team. The Headteachers usually make a special guest appearance too.
We sincerely hope that your child’s and your family’s time at this great school will be very enjoyable and we look forward to meeting you all.
